A Friend In Grief

The author is a government minister and has worked with grief for decades. The chapters speak to unlike elements of the grief process. Information technology is written in a way that makes it seem that he is there speaking merely to you.

This is not a bad volume; I think information technology just didn't hit me at this time, for what I needed to hear/read. This is non a bad book; I think it merely didn't hit me at this time, for what I needed to hear/read. ...more

My mentor, a wise man who has counseled many through grief, believes this to be a "must read" for anyone experiencing grief. I didn't take that strong of a reaction to this book. But, I did retrieve information technology was marvelously written. Manning manages to write with then much pity, grace, empathy, and honesty almost the journey in and through grief. He covers a broad range of topics and experiences with few words. He is a man who has experienced grief himself and has walked that journey with others. This volume has some useful mentalities that will help with grief.

I recently lost my blood brother in a automobile accident and I found aspects of this volume very helpful.

However, the 3 star rating is for those who are religious. This volume does have a very religious slant. And would likely be more helpful to those who had lost a spouse than a sibling.

2.v stars.

I picked this volume upward in a austerity shop because I saw it was:
*a volume written by a pastor to those going through grief
*unlike most books on grief that focus primarily on the various emotional stages a person volition go through, this book also talks nearly the specific steps a family would go through in the funeral grooming stage.
*at a quick glance, the volume appeared to have stories about people the author ministered to during the funeral prep/day/follow-up

I supposed I was hoping the volume

I supposed I was hoping the book would aid me be a back up to those inside the first calendar week or 2 of a loss. The book was okay but I was hoping for more, and it feels dated in several parts (it's copyright 1979).
